It's time to grow! ...

Today I'm traveling to Salt Lake City for the annual Stampin' Up! Convention.  There I'll be learning new stamping tips and techniques, all while interacting with old and new friends and the incredible Stampin' Up! staff.  And, of course, there will be card swapping!  I'll be posting one or two cards I made for swapping while I'm gone.  Stay tuned ...

Adventure awaits makeover ...

Our son, who begins high school this fall, received the most amazing card from his aunt, my husband's sister ...

Okay, so maybe the card itself isn't anything overly spectacular, but the message his aunt wrote inside certainly was.  And though I can't share that personal message with you, I can share this Stampin' Up! makeover of her card ...

 

Stamps:  Elements of Style

Paper:  Cardstock - Elegant Eggplant, Perfect Plum

Ink:  Classic - Elegant Eggplant, Perfect Plum

Tools & Accessories:  Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz; SNAIL; Multipurpose Liquid Glue

I chose a different color scheme, instead choosing one of the Dynamic Duo's from the new Color Coach ... Elegant Eggplant and Perfect Plum.  Love, love, love that tool!  And I used the Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz pearlized accent spray, a new item in the Summer Mini Catalog.  A light spray adds just the right amount of shimmer to any cardstock!

I was really tempted to add the hummingbird image from the Elements of Style Stamp Set to the left of the sentiment, but didn't since there was no image like that on the original card.  Still, I may add it later ... Have you stamped today!

Color renovation continues ...

The color renovation continues in my stampin' studio.  Last night, I added labels to my reinker bottles ...

Just be sure to add a Mini Glue Dot to each end of the label otherwise they won't adhere to the ribbed cap surface, something I discovered this morning! ...

Yesterday, I got the New Color Kit Markers with my demonstrator pre-order so I organized my new marker collection as well, but can't show you a photo of that just yet.  Click here to learn how you can become a Stampin' Up! demonstrator by joining my "All 4 Stamps" team and be eligible to pre-order new product, too!

Stampin' studio color renovation ...

No, I didn't paint my studio, but I did recently reorganize my ink pads into their new color families (cardstock was done earlier) ...

The retiring colors are "out" and the returning in colors are "in."  Each ink pad is labeled with it's name and color family, punched out quickly and easily using the Word Window Punch.

I am missing a few, namely the six new colors ... Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake (aka Kraft), Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso, and Marina Mist ... and this year's in colors ... Blushing Bride, Concord Crush, Peach Parfait, Pear Pizzazz, and Poppy Parade.  Those are all available for customer order on July 1st, but I'll be getting them soon enough with my demonstrator pre-order (on its way now!).

That's right, as a demonstrator I get to pre-order new product before it's available to customers, just one of the perks of being part of the Stampin' Up! family.  And now, if you join my "All 4 Stamps" team of Stampin' Up! demonstrators by purchasing a starter kit by June 30, 2010, you'll get two sets of these labels as one of my personal gifts to you.  They're great for organizing your ink pads and cardstock, but use them however you choose.  Come on, join the fun for as little as $99!

On the gorge ...

I'll be whitewater rafting these gorgeous West Virginia waters this weekend courtesy of Class VI so it will be a bit quiet here at www.stampedsentiments.com.  During my absence, my dear husband will be taking care of our pets and my thoughtful brother will be looking after my parents (that's my day job, for those who didn't already know that).  Next week I'll be back to stamping once again.  Until then ...

Medallion best wishes ...

When I told my husband that we'd been invited to a shower for my nephew's upcoming wedding, his response was, "Guys don't go to those."  But when I explained that there'd be drink, food and cornhole (not to mention what fun my sister-in-law's family can be!), he was in.  Well, we had a blast.  And now my husband can add another first to his list of firsts ... a wedding shower.

We got the happy couple a gift from their registry at Bed, Bath & Beyond, but the gift packaging provided by the store was a bit too generic ...

I just had to handcraft a card to match ...

Simply Scrappin' in a day ...

Recently, I held a "Scrapbook Album In A Day" class where attendees made a twenty-page 12" x 12" scrapbook in just a few short hours with either the Petal Party or Tailor Made Simply Scrappin' Kits.*  Petal Party turned out to be my favorite of the two so I thought I'd share a few assembled pages featuring that kit.

I know, pages WITH photographs would be better, but I live in a household of boys so photos for these "girly" pages are in short supply here.  So for now, these photo-less pages will have to do.  I'll be posting a few more album pictures throughout the week.  Stay tuned ...

Medallion birthday wishes ...

I am currently serving as Fellowship Coordinator for the women's group at my church and one of my duties is to send birthday cards to our members celebrating a birthday.  I really welcome the opportunity to minister to these women by providing handcrafted cards and small gifts for special occasions.  In fact, it was that which prompted me to volunteer for the position.

Here's the card I've created for the August birthdays ...

Stamps:  Medallion, Sincere Salutations

Paper:  Cardstock - Confetti White, Soft Suede

Ink:  Classic - Crushed Curry, Soft Suede

Tools & Accessories:  Dusty Durango Polka Dot Ribbon, Scallop Edge Punch, SNAIL

I bet you're wondering where the polka dots are on the ribbon ... why they're hidden!  I chose to showcase the back side which is plain.  Having a plain and a polka-dotted side makes this ribbon very versatile, suitable for a multitude of projects.  And it's available in all six In Colors, too!

Did you also notice that this card doesn't have a long list of supplies?  Yes, it's simple, but pretty.  A great combination, don't you think?  And, even though I'm sending it to women, it would also be appropriate for men.  Which reminds me ... my husband's birthday is this month.  I think I just found his birthday card!

Missing in action ...

Are you wondering why there haven't been any more posts this week?  Well that's because I've been doing more baking than stamping.  For what, you ask? ... the St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish Festival, of course!

Each year I bake for the event's "Dessert Cafe," but this year, in addition to the cafe, there's also a "Wheel of Sweets" where you gamble a quarter that the wheel will land on your number.  Your prize? ... a complete dessert!

Also, as in years past, I donated a basket to the Basket Extravaganza.  And with the help of Stampin' Up!'s generous merchandise contribution, I was able to provide this fabulous assortment of Stampin' Up! product ...
