Punch Bunch: owls ...

Here's the last in our series of cards featuring the Punch Bunch Stamp Set, at least for now.  It's amazing that all of these varied images are from one stamp set AND that you can earn it FREE as a Sale-A-Bration reward! ...

Stamps:  Punch Bunch

Paper:  Cardstock - Old Olive, Whisper White, Bashful Blue, Melon Mambo

Ink:  Classic - Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise, Pumpkin Pie

Tools & Accessories:  Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine; Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Scallop Squares Duo Bigz Die*; Punches - Two-Step Owl Extra-Large, 1" Circle Medium; Paper-Piercing Tool; Mat Pack; Neutrals Brads; Pumpkin Pie 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon; Cutting Tools - Craft & Paper Scissors, Paper Snips; Adhesive - SNAIL, Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Stampin' Dimensionals

*Scallop Square Duo Bigz Die is one of several products still available from the 2010 Holiday Mini Catalog.  Click graphic in left sidebar of this website for others.

Instructions:

1. Fold 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" Old Olive Cardstock in half for base card.  Run only front panel through Big Shot in Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder.  Set aside.
2. Die-cut 3-1/4" x 3-1/4" Bashful Blue Cardstock with Big Shot and large square on Scallop Squares Duo Bigz Die.
3. Adhere die-cut cardstock to 3-1/4" x 3-1/4" Whisper White Cardstock with SNAIL, then wrap 14" piece of Pumpkin Pie 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon around it and tie in a knot.  Trim ends of ribbon with Craft & Paper Scissors.  Adhere to base card with Stampin' Dimensionals.  Set aside.
   
4. Stamp "owl" image on appropriate size scraps of Whisper White Cardstock, once in Melon Mambo Classic Ink and once in Tempting Turquoise Classic Ink, then punch out with Two-Step Owl Punch.
   
5. With Paper-Piercing Tool and Mat Pack, create holes in owl eyes, then set two Basic Black Brads for each owl.  Adhere owls to base card with Stampin' Dimensionals.
6. Using Two-Step Owl Punch, punch out three small hearts from appropriate size scrap of Melon Mambo Cardstock, then adhere to base card with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
7. Stamp "true friend" image on appropriate scrap of Whisper White Cardstock in Pumpkin Pie Classic Ink, then punch out with 1" Circle Punch.  Adhere to base card over knot in ribbon with Stampin' Dimensionals cut in half with Paper Snips, stacking them for necessary height to complete card.

Punch Bunch: for you ...

Here's another card using the Punch Bunch Stamp Set, this time it's the scallop circle floral image, and again it's with instructions ...

Stamps:  Punch Bunch

Paper:  Cardstock - Daffodil Delight, Whisper White, Poppy Parade; Designer Series Paper Pack - In Color (Level 1 Hostess)

Tools & Accessories:  Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine; Framed Tulips Textured Impressions Embossing Folder; Old Olive 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon; Stampin' Write Markers - Daffodil Delight, Poppy Parade, Old Olive; Punches - 2-3/8" Scallop Circle Extra-Large; 1-3/4" Scallop Circle Extra-Large; Adhesive - SNAIL, Stampin' Dimensionals

Instructions:

1. Fold 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" Daffodil Delight Cardstock in half for base card.  Set aside.
2. Run 5-1/4" x 4" Whisper White Cardstock through Big Shot in Framed Tulips Embossing Folder.
3. Adhere 5-1/4" x 2" Poppy Parade Designer Series Paper to embossed cardstock with SNAIL.
4. Apply SNAIL to back side of cardstock unit, then place 7" piece of Old Olive 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon on front over seam and adhere ends to back.  Adhere unit to base card.  Set aside.
5. Punch 2-3/8" Scallop Circle from appropriate size scrap of Poppy Parade Cardstock.  Set aside.
   
6. Ink "for you" floral image with the following Stampin' Write Markers:  Daffodil Delight, Poppy Parade, and Old Olive, then stamp on appropriate size scrap of Whisper White Cardstock.
7. Punch stamped image with 1-3/4" Scallop Circle, then adhere to Poppy Parade punch out with Stampin' Dimensionals.  Adhere punched unit to base card with Stampin' Dimensionals to complete card.

Don't you just love this color combination?  I do!  It reminds me that Spring can't be too far away.  Coming up next, the final image from the Punch Bunch Stamp Set, the owl.  Stay tuned ...

Punch Bunch: happy birthday

Here's another card using the Punch Bunch Stamp Set, this time with instructions ...

Stamps:  Punch Bunch

Paper:  Cardstock - Crumb Cake, Bashful Blue, Real Red, Whisper White

Ink:  Classic - Real Red

Tools & Accessories:  Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine; Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder; Punches - 3/16" Corner Small, Scallop Square Extra-Large; Paper Snips; Real Red 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon; Adhesive - SNAIL, Stampin' Dimensionals

Instructions:

1. Fold 4-1/4" x 11" Crumb Cake Cardstock in half for base card.  Set aside.
2. Run 2-1/2" x 4-1/2" Bashful Blue Cardstock through Big Shot in Square Lattice Embossing Folder.
3. Adhere embossed cardstock to 3-3/4" x 4-1/2" Bashful Blue Cardstock with SNAIL.  Round two corners with 3/16" Corner Punch.
4. Apply SNAIL to back side of cardstock unit, then place 6" piece of Real Red 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon on front over seam and adhere ends to back.  Adhere unit to base card.
5. Punch Scallop Square from appropriate size scrap of Real Red Cardstock, then adhere to base card with Stampin' Dimensionals.
6. Stamp "Happy Birthday" image on appropriate size scrap of Whisper White Cardstock, then cut into square along dotted lines with Paper Snips.  Adhere to base card with Stampin' Dimensionals to complete card.

One of the great things about this card (other than the fact that it is so, so easy to make!) is that it's totally appropriate for either a male or female recipient.

Dry Embossing: A note of thanks ...

Did you know that the Big Shot, in addition to being the perfect die-cutting tool, is also an ideal tool for dry embossing?  Yes, it's true!  You can make a dry-embossed image using almost any of Stampin' Up!'s Big Shot dies to create a dry-embossing template, as we did here on this patriotic thank you card ...

Stamps:  Thank You Kindly

Paper:  Cardstock - Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White, Pumpkin Pie, Night of Navy

Ink:  Classic - Night of Navy

Tools & Accessories:  Big Shot; Star #2 Originals Die; Thick Window Sheets; Stylus; Punches - 1-3/4" Scallop Circle Extra-Large, 1-3/8" Circle Large, Star Small, Star Extra-Large; SNAIL; Stampin' Dimensionals

Here's how ...

1. Choose a Big Shot die such as the Stars #2 Originals die that we used.  Use the Big Shot and die to cut the images from a thick window sheet.  Set aside the die-cuts and use the remaining background as a template.
2. Secure the template to grid paper or a table with a small piece of tape or other temporary adhesive.
3. Place the paper or cardstock face down over the template, positioning it so that you'll have the image where you want it.
4. Using the stylus tool, press the paper through the open areas of the template to produce your raised image.

Here are a few additional tips ...

• Rub waxed paper on the back surface of the cardstock so the stylus will glide more smoothly and to help prevent tears in the paper.
• When dry embossing a large open area, press only around the edges of the template, not the entire open area.
• If a colored raised image is desired, re-place the template on the raised side of the cardstock.  It will act as a mask to protect the un-raised surfaces.  Apply color from ink pads or Stampin' Pastels using a small sponge or sponge dauber.

Bargello: Not just for needlepoint ...

Bargello, a form of embroidery that is created through a series of upright flat stitches laid out in interesting patterns, is the perfect technique for showing off Stampin' Up!'s Designer Series Paper.  Yes, it can be done with paper, too! ...

Stamps:  Trendy Trees

Paper:  Cardstock - So Saffron, Old Olive, Whisper White; Designer Series Paper - Tall Tales

Ink:  Classic - Soft Suede, Old Olive

Tools & Accessories:  Scallop Edge Punch; Tabletop Paper Cutter; Old Olive 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon; SNAIL; Stampin' Dimensionals

To create the beautiful pattern on our Thinking Of You card, we started with a striped pattern from the retiring Tall Tales Designer Series Paper (Tip: the bargello technique works best with striped papers).  Once you've selected your striped pattern ...

1. Cut Designer Series Paper into strips of varying width (we chose to cut our strips all at 3/4").
2. Align colors into desired pattern and adhere to Whisper White Cardstock with SNAIL.
3. Using the Tabletop Paper Cutter, cut patterned cardstock unit to desired size.
4. Adhere bargello piece to card (or other project).

A quick gift card holder ...

Recently, a customer asked Stamped Sentiments for our help creating a gift card holder she wanted to make as a thank you.  It needed to be simple and quick since she'd be making 100 of them and only had a day or two in which to do it!

Here's what we came up with ...

 

Stamps:  Fresh Cuts

Paper:  Cardstock - Brocade Blue, Whisper White, Night of Navy

Ink:  Classic - Night of Navy

Tools & Accessories:  Night of Navy 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon; Punches - Designer Label, Small Oval; Craft & Paper Scissors; Sticky Strip; SNAIL; Stampin' Dimensionals

In the interest of maximizing cardstock, the base card of Brocade Blue Cardstock was cut 8-1/2" x 3-1/2" for three cards per 8-1/2" x 11" sheet, then scored at 3-1/2" and 7" with Sticky Strip used to seal just the two edges of the 1-1/2" flap to hold the gift card securely.

The background image was stamped in Night of Navy Classic Ink on 3" x 3" Whisper White Cardstock, then adhered to the base card with SNAIL.

A 15" length of Night of Navy 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon was tied around the base card, then the ends trimmed with Craft & Paper Scissors.  Since no envelope was being used, this is how the gift card holder would be held closed.

The "Thank You" tag, also stamped in Night of Navy and punched out with the Small Oval Punch, was adhered with SNAIL to Night of Navy Cardstock punched with the Designer Label Punch, then adhered to the base card with Stampin' Dimensionals to complete the card.

The colors for this card were chosen with the help of the Color Coach; Night of Navy and Brocade Blue are just one of several "Dynamic Duos" paired up on the Color Coach.  And though Night of Navy will still be around after Stampin' Up!'s Color Renovation goes into effect on July 1st, Brocade Blue is retiring so it's only available until June 30th, while supplies last.

Halloween treat box ...

It's only early September, but thoughts are already turning to Fall and that means Halloween is just around the corner.  Why not make up a batch of these cute treat boxes for your little ghosts and goblins ...

Stamps:  Pumpkin Patch (from Holiday Mini Catalog)

Paper:  Cardstock - Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White

Ink:  Classic - Basic Black, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie

Tools & Accessories:  Treat Box Pattern, Sticky Strip, Stampin' Dimensionals

Instructions:

1. Using Treat Box Pattern (see link provided above), trace or print pattern on Pumpkin Pie Cardstock, then cut out and score.
2. Stamp grass image in Pumpkin Pie Classic Ink on unassembled box.  Assemble box with Sticky Strip.
3. Stamp pumpkin image in Pumpkin Pie Classic Ink, face and stem images in Chocolate Chip Classic Ink, and grass and curly vine images in Old Olive Classic Ink on Whisper White Cardstock.  Adhere to treat box using Stampin' Dimensionals.
4. Stamp "from our patch to yours" sentiment in Basic Black Classic Ink on top of treat box.

Another wishes by the dozens ...

The concept of making a bunch of cards in advance, then adding the appropriate sentiment as you need them, was first introduced at Stamped Sentiments with this post.  Today's card again uses the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set for the sentiment, but features a topiary made with stamps from the Circle Circus set.  And I've included instructions, too ...

Stamps:  Circle Circus, Teeny Tiny Wishes

Paper:  Cardstock - Crushed Curry, Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive, Soft Suede, Whisper White

Ink:  Classic - Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry

Tools & Accessories:  Punches - 1-3/4" Circle, 1-1/4" Circle, 1" Circle, Modern Label, Word Window; Rich Razzleberry Polka Dot Ribbon; Craft & Paper Scissors; SNAIL; 2-Way Glue Pen; Mini Glue Dots; Stampin' Dimensionals

Instructions:

1. Fold 6" x 6" Crushed Curry Cardstock in half for base card.
2. Adhere 5-3/4" x 2-3/4" Rich Razzleberry Cardstock to base card with SNAIL.
3. Adhere 5-1/2" x 2-1/2" Old Olive Cardstock to base card with SNAIL.
4. Adhere 4" x 1/4" strip of Soft Suede Cardstock to base card with the 2-Way Glue Pen for topiary stem, centered from side-to-side and approximately 3/4" from the top edge of the Old Olive Cardstock.
5. Adhere 1-1/4" x 1" Soft Suede Cardstock at base of topiary stem with SNAIL, approximately 1/16" from the bottom edge of the Old Olive Cardstock.
6. With Old Olive Classic Ink, stamp the three circle images chosen from the Circle Circus stamp set on scrap Whisper White Cardstock.  Punch out largest circle with 1-3/4" Circle Punch, the medium circle with the 1-1/4" Circle Punch, and the smallest circle with the 1" Circle Punch.
7. Adhere punched out circles to base card with Stampin' Dimensionals.
8. With Modern Label Punch, punch out a piece of Rich Razzleberry Cardstock from scrap.
9. With Rich Razzleberry Classic Ink, stamp sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set on scrap Whisper White Cardstock and punch out with Word Window Punch.  Adhere to Rich Razzleberry punch out with SNAIL and adhere punched unit to base card with Stampin' Dimensionals.
10. Tie 4" piece of Rich Razzleberry Polka Dot Ribbon in a knot and adhere to base card with Mini Glue Dots.  Trim ribbon ends with Craft & Paper Scissors to complete card.

Now here's where the "wishes by the dozens" factors in ... I chose the "thinking of you" sentiment, but there are dozens of other sentiments in the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set (#115370) that you could use for your card as demonstrated in this post.  So you see, this is one of those staple stamp sets that should be in every rubber stamp collection.  Visit my online store and "SHOP NOW" to get yours.

Trendy razzleberry lemonade ...

Yesterday was quite rainy here in West Chester, Ohio, a perfect day for cardmaking.  Here's my latest creation; no hidden polka dots here! ...

Stamps:  Trendy Trees

Paper:  Cardstock - Pumpkin Pie, Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White; Designer Series Paper - Razzleberry Lemonade

Ink:  Classic - Rich Razzleberry

Tools & Accessories:  Rich Razzleberry Polka Dot Ribbon; Punches - 1-1/4" Square, Modern Label, Word Window; SNAIL; Stampin' Dimensionals

This card is so simple to make that instructions aren't really needed, but I'm providing them anyway, just in case ...

Instructions:

1. Fold 4-1/4" x 11" Pumpkin Pie Cardstock in half for base card.
2. Adhere six 1-1/4" punched squares of assorted patterns from Razzleberry Lemonade Designer Series Paper to 4-1/4" x 3" Rich Razzleberry Cardstock with SNAIL.
3. Adhere Rich Razzleberry cardstock unit to 4-1/2" x 3-1/4" Melon Mambo Cardstock with SNAIL.  Adhere entire cardstock unit to base card with SNAIL.
4. With Modern Label Punch, punch label from Melon Mambo Cardstock and set aside.
5. Stamp "thinking of you" sentiment with Rich Razzleberry Classic Ink on Whisper White Cardstock scrap.  Punch out with Word Window Punch and adhere to punched Melon Mambo label with SNAIL.  Adhere punched unit to base card with Stampin' Dimensionals.
6. Wrap 16" length of Rich Razzleberry Polka Dot Ribbon around front of card and tie in a knot.  Trim ends ... and your card is complete!

Why not make up a bunch of these bright and cheery cards in advance, then add the appropriate sentiment as you need them.  I'll show you what I mean in my next post so stay tuned ...

S'mores treat bag ...

This featured project from Stampin' Up! certainly brings back memories for this old Girl Scout ...

 

Stamps:  Under The Stars

Paper:  Cardstock - Real Red, Whisper White; Textured Cardstock - Creamy Caramel

Ink:  Classic - Basic Black, Cream Caramel, Real Red, So Saffron

Tools & Accessories:  Large Flat Cellophane Bags, Linen Thread, Stampin' Dimensionals, Blender Pens, Stamping Sponges

Instructions:

1. Stamp racoon image in Basic Black Classic Ink, mosquito image in Creamy Caramel Classic Ink, and "Grrreat!" sentiment in Real Red Classic Ink on Whisper White Cardstock bag topper.
2. Adhere strip of Real Red Cardstock to bag topper.
3. Stamp two stars in So Saffron Classic Ink on Whisper White Cardstock.  Cut out and adhere to Whisper White Cardstock using Stampin' Dimensionals.
4. Use a printer to print words "Camping" and "treats" on Creamy Caramel Textured Cardstock.  Cut out in shape of sign.  Color edges of sign in Cream Caramel Classic Ink using Stamping Sponges.  Adhere to bag topper.
5. Stamp s'more image in Cream Caramel Classic Ink on Whisper White Cardstock.  Watercolor image in Creamy Caramel Classic Ink using Blender Pen.  Cut out and adhere to sign on bag topper.
6. Tie linen thread around bag topper.
