More "Awash With Flowers" ...

As promised, here's a card of my own design using the Awash With Flowers Stamp Set.  But it's not just one card, it's a set of four!  I purposely left them without a sentiment so they could be used for any Spring occasion ...

Stamps:  Awash With Flowers

Paper:  Cardstock - Regal Rose, Early Espresso, Old Olive, Whisper White; Designer Series Paper - Brights Paper Stack

Ink:  Classic - Early Espresso, Regal Rose, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie

Tools & Accessories:  Punches - Eyelet Border, 2-1/2" Circle Extra-Large; Adhesive - SNAIL, Stampin' Dimensionals

Awash With Flowers is one of Stampin' Up!'s two-step stamps.  Two-step stampin' is a simple technique.  Here's all you do ...

1. Stamp the base image.
2. Position and stamp the overlay image.

 

OR 

1. Stamp base image in VersaMark ink on any neutral cardstock.  Sponge Stampin' Pastels over solid image.
2. Stamp overlay image in VersaMark ink over solid image.  Sponge pastels in a darker coordinating color, or even the same color, over the second stamped image.

 

OR

1. Color directly on the solid stamp image with a Watercolor Wonder Crayon.
2. Spritz the stamp with water.
3. Stamp the image on cardstock or watercolor paper.  Wait for base image to dry, and stamp overlay image with coordinating color of ink.

 

Quick Tips:

• Use lighter ink for the base image and darker ink for the overlay image.
• Re-stamp the image one or more times without re-inking the stamp to get several shades of color from a single ink pad.

Decorative Label Punch layered ...

In this post, I promised to share how to make a background layer for the Decorative Label Extra-Large Punch on page 25 of the Holiday Mini Catalog.  Well, here's a step-by-step tutorial for you to follow ...

First, stamp the foreground image/sentiment on cardstock and punch it out with the Decorative Label Extra-Large Punch ...

Second, punch out two of the same color cardstock with the Decorative Label Extra-Large Punch; these two pieces will be used to make the background layer ...

Next, cut approximately 1/2" off each long edge of one of the punch outs with Paper Snips ...

Next, cut the other punch out in half ...

Then cut each half into a triangle of sorts ...

Apply SNAIL to both long edges of the back of the stamped punch out, then adhere the 1/2" cut cardstock pieces ...

Apply SNAIL to both short edges of the back of the stamped punch out, then adhere the triangle cardstock pieces ...

Your Decorative Label now has a background!  And here it is on the completed card ...

Don't leave home without it! ...

At my recent "eScape To Summer Camp" event we used the stamp-a-ma-jig on nearly every card.  The "campers" were thrilled to learn how to use it and everybody ordered one.  While I'm posting this tutorial as a refresher for my customers who attended the event, it may also be helpful to those of you who've never taken yours out of the box (and you know who you are!).

What is a stamp-a-ma-jig, you ask?  Well, it's a great tool for perfect alignment of your stamped image every time, especially when using a Stampin' Up! two-step stampin' stamp as I have in this tutorial.  The stamp-a-ma-jig has two pieces ... the t-square or "jig" and a plastic imaging sheet.  The "jig" has a square corner on both the left and right side so it can easily be used by lefthanded and righthanded stampers.
(Note:  Photo's demonstrate righthanded use.)

The imaging sheet has a textured side which should be face down on your cardstock to reduce the chance of slipping.

Before we go any further, let's gather the rest of our supplies ... cardstock, stamps, and inkpads.

The first step is to stamp your image on the imaging sheet.

(Note:  It is strongly recommended that you use a dark ink for this step regardless of what color ink you're using on your cardstock to ensure that you can see it.)

Place the imaging sheet in the corner of the "jig."

Ink your stamp, then place it in the same corner of the "jig" as the imaging sheet and stamp your image on the imaging sheet.

(Note:  If you used a different ink on the imaging sheet than you're using on your cardstock, be sure to clean your stamp with your Stampin' Mist and Stampin' Scrub before you proceed.)

Place imaging sheet on cardstock with image in precise location where you want to stamp it.

Holding the imaging sheet firmly so it doesn't move, place the "jig" against the upper corner of the imaging sheet.

Holding the "jig" firmly in place, remove the imaging sheet.

Ink your stamp, then place it in the same corner of the "jig" and stamp.

Remove the "jig" and your stamped image should be exactly where you want it.

Repeat steps as necessary to complete project.

Once you experience the benefit of using a stamp-a-ma-jig on your stamping projects, you'll be sure you "don't leave home without it!" ... I never do!
